04/22/2008 New Employees and Promotions New Employees, Dick Gormley Assistant Chief Fire Marshall. Chief Gormley started mid March and brings with him 40 plus years of fire service experiance. Most recently Chief Gormley retired as Spokane Fire District 10's Fire Chief. Chief Gormley is serving as the Fire Marshall for all of Chelan County. Firefighter Jordan Kunz B Shift, Jordan brings 5 years of fire sevice experiance. Most recently Jordan was a Rappeller with the USFS Wenatchee Valley Rappel Base and as a Chelan County Fire District One Volunteer

01/18/2008 Chelan County Fire Marshal Chelan County Fire District 1 and Chelan County have entered into an agreement for Fire Marshal services. Beginning March 1st 2008 Chelan County Fire District 1 will be responsible for providing the Fire Marshal for all of Chelan County. This collaborative effort comes as a result of the leadership of the Chelan County Commissioners along with Fire District 1 Commissioners.

01/13/2008 California Pictures The Southern California Pictures have now been uploaded to our web site, just click on our photo link and look for the album titled Southern California.

10/25/2007 California Response Chelan County Fire District One along with Chelan County Fire District 3,8, and 9 sent a strike team of Type III engines(brush trucks) to Southern California to assist with the firefighting efforts ongoing in California. The Stike Team has worked on the Harris Incident located in San Deigo CA and currently assigned to San Bernardino County Fire Department to assist with any new fires until released back to Washington State. Once the Strike Team is back in WA we will have photos posted on our website.

07/22/2007 Interagency Severity Engine Chelan County Fire District 1 (CCFD 1) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) are working together to provide additional wildland fire response capability to the area. For the third year in a row these two agencies are combining resources to better serve the citizens. The funding provided by the BLM will pay for two firefighters and a wildland engine to be staffed seven days a week. This funding is based on the severity of the season and is provided in two week segments. CCFD 1 will provide the firefighters, equipment and oversight to be ready for dispatch when needed. This resource will be conducting routine maintenance and planning functions when not assigned to an incident. If you have questions or comments about this program please contact Chief Johnson.

01/02/2007 Adopt-a-Hydrant With the recent snowfall amounts Chelan County fire District 1 encourages you to Adopt a Hydrant. Take time to check the Fire Hydrants in your neighborhood for easy access. Fire district personnel are making the rounds checking hydrants and would appreciate your help in keeping the hydrants shoveled clear. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this project.

12/07/2006 Prevention Volunteers Needed Volunteers Needed; Public Education / Fire Prevention Chelan County Fire District #1 is in need of individuals interested in joining our Volunteer Support Division to assist with our Public Education Program.

10/09/2006 Structure Fire Hits Home At approximately 1900 hours Chelan County Fire District One and Wenatche Fire and Rescue responded to 1612 McKittrick St., Lieutenant Brett Schafer's residence to a reported structure fire, Wenatchee Fire and Rescue Ladder 42 was first to arrive and reported that it was a barn on fire and was able to contain it in about 20 minutes. Lt. Schafer was on duty at the time of the fire. Lt. Schafer would like to extend his gratitude to Chelan County Fire District One personnel, Wenatchee Fire and Rescue personnel, River Comm, and the public who stopped and assisted during the incident.

09/01/2006 Assistant Chief Speck Assistant Chief Speck is back in his office and is excited to be working again, Acting Battalion Chief Schafer is now back on C shift as the Lieutenant.

07/07/2006 New District Website Chelan County Fire District #1 has launched a new web site effective July 7, 2006. The website is being launched to offer the community a better look at their fire department.

07/06/2006 Acting Battalion Chief of Training Lieutenant Brett Schafer has been appointed as Acting Battalion Chief in the Training Division. BC Schafer will be filling in for Assistant Chief Gerry Speck who is on leave through the end of the summer.

07/05/2006 Fire District Responds to 1 Fireworks Fire Chelan County Fire District #1 finished the 4th of July with relatively few fire works related calls. The district responded to 1 fire within the district caused by fireworks late Tuesday night. The 4th of July is often a busy day with many fires caused from fireworks.
